A Welcome from the Chairman

On behalf of Acomb Parish Council, welcome to our web site: an exciting way of sharing information about the Parish Council and other activities and events in Acomb. We hope that you find it informative, helpful and interesting.

The parish of Acomb, bounded by the course of Hadrian's Wall to the north and the river Tyne to the south lies within a beautiful part of Northumberland. Indeed, the many country lanes and public rights of way through and around the parish are regularly enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.

At the heart of the parish is the village of Acomb itself, with a proud history spanning a number of centuries. Within more recent developments the village has expanded with the addition of some new houses and developments. Acomb remains an attractive village with residents taking great pride in their homes and gardens; adding much to the impact of the built environment.

Acomb Parish Council, however, does not simply operate within an area of beautiful countryside or within an attractive village; we are here working as both part of, and for the community. Acomb retains a vibrant community spirit with a lively school, the Parish Church of St John Lee, and a Methodist Church, a village hall, a number of organisations meeting regularly, sporting facilities and events, a Post Office and a range of other businesses and services. The strength of any community lies with its people and the Parish Council recognises the effort and commitment of so many individuals and groups within Acomb.

For our part, the Parish Council seeks to support the needs and aspirations of the community in many and varied ways; working alone and in partnership with other levels of local government and other agencies. We all need to nurture and encourage community life both now and as we plan for the future.

Informing, supporting and acting together - Help us to help you!
